Lasting Powers of Attorney

A Lasting Power of Attorney allows you to appoint someone that you trust as an "Attorney," to make decisions on your behalf when you are unable to do so yourself. The Lasting Power of Attorney can help you plan in advance how your health, wellbeing and financial affairs will be looked after.

The Lasting Power of Attorney must be registered at the Office of Public Guardian before it can be used. Lambe Corner's solicitors are experienced in the legal formalities for the preparation and registration of the Lasting Power of Attorney, thereby ensuring that you have peace of mind.

If someone has already lost their ability to make decisions for themselves, they will be unable to execute a Lasting Power of Attorney. In this case, an application can be made to the Court of Protection for appointment of a "Deputy." The Deputy is usually a close friend or family member. The application is normally necessary in order to access assets to cover the cost of care, or to make decisions about an individual's personal welfare that they are unable to make for themselves. Our solicitors are experienced in the procedure for the Deputy application and will be able to provide you with expert guidance at a difficult time.
